"I was trying to get into a flooded basement to raid a gun safe
I thought I could break the basement wall down and the water would level out into trenches I dug outside... Well, while I was down into the foundation, hammering away, a hoard of like 4 zombies fell down on top of me... The only other ways I die are by a pack of dogs early on or land mines..."
"The first: riding motorcycles together, my gf just barely, and I mean the lightest possible tap, of her front wheel to my rear fender. I instantly explode. We now keep some distance between each other. I think it may have been a desync issue, but idk for sure. Other funny story: I maxed out the "iron."
"I maxed out the "iron gut" skill in fortitude tree. Its description says "iron gut so tough, you could probably eat glass and be fine". Now, I've clicked with broken glass in my hands before and gotten the warning "are you sure you want to eat this? This WILL kill you." Always thought it was wierd as hell it was an option. Why can I eat glass in this game?
So, when I saw the iron gut level 5 description, I thought to myself 'huh, maybe that's the thing. At level 5 I can eat glass, making a new emergency food option. Maybe that's why I can eat glass in the first place. Let's try it!'
...
That's not how that works.
You are bleeding internally. Better hope you can find an emergency room in the apocalypse!"

"When playing Co-Op I found out you can hit yourself if you have high ping and swing while running.
Took us a while to figure out why I kept getting bleed damage when fighting zombies with a machete. Thinking the zombies were the issue. It wasn't until we were sprinting around for no reason and I started bleeding after swinging the machete.
Turns out you can also kill yourself easily with the sledgehammer heavy attack while sprinting."

"... on that time, broken glass was still on the menu.
I was fighting a horde and ran out of first aid kits, so my slot on the belt got empty.........i started to lot very quickly and didn't notice the broken glass on the slot of the first aid......needed health, muscle memory.
ate the broken glass and died. I always play permadeath even when it was without the option. I was around night 400. xD"

"My first death in my current world was after I had survived a BEATING. I got my ass beaten half to death by zombies and was forced to climb a bridge, I then jumped off that bridge because i forgot it’s not minecraft rules and broke both of my legs. Still alive, I limped back to camp and survived until the day just to die from falling down the hill leading from my base to my local water supply."
-Enuke2003
"We had a funny one. In hardcore too.
Friends and I are prepping for the first blood moon. One of them found one of those tattered cloth helmets a while back and still rocks it thinking it looks cool. Blood moon comes, invasion starts. He falls off out scaffolding, runs in through the front looking absolutely indistinguishable from the other zombies, and I tap him in the dome. Game over."
"First week of game. Survived quest with like 4 health left.
Looted and was trudging home encumbered but content with my life..
.....then a fucking bird saw me......
And decided that no..... I don't deserve happiness in the zombie apocalypse."
-the_madclown
"Was playing Wild West overhaul. About 1800 hours in give or take. Went to do my first quest for Rekt and died to a spike trap generated by the POI."
-Super_Wario_128
"In earlier days. If you stood on a drawbridge and someone activated it you fell through to spikes (as if the bridge suddenly was not a solid structure anymore), In early days when you closed doors on somebody he would get squeezed under or above door into concrete and die. Some buildings lost integrity and fell apart if you dismantled some stuff or opened a bag so building crumbled and you died in debris because LOOT."
-Rachnael
"My first playthrough I broke out the floor and put spikes in the hole right in front of the cabin door I was spending the night in. This was my first base, and after making a base into the next biome, I went back to my first base, opened the door, and fell in my own spikes 💀"
-Lost-Juggernaut6521
"Wasn’t my death but one that I very closely witnessed. Was during a permadeath tournament and me and my buddy notice a pair of teammates on bikes hanging around ours so hung around to see what they were up to and one crashed into the other. It took a few seconds for us to notice he’d killed him and been banned from the tourney. They then started crying and blaming us for the death (pvp was off) even though it was obvious from the clip that it was them that killed the other."
